The Charlotte County Board of 县委员会ers adopted a Plan of Action to Manage Historical Resources on March 9, 2004, which was approved on July 13, 2004. The new ordinance amended Chapter 1-11, Charlotte County Code, and legally established the new Charlotte County Historical Advisory Committee. The committee advises the Charlotte County Board of 县委员会ers on historical and cultural matters, to effectively promote, protect and preserve our community’s historically significant resources. The HAC replaced the former five-member Historic Preservation Board, and consists of nine members who reside in Charlotte County, including five representatives nominated by historical organizations throughout the county plus four at-large members with professional backgrounds and/or educational experience.
Meeting Schedule
The Historical Advisory Committee (HAC) meets the second Wednesday of every month at Centennial Park 娱乐 Center, 1120 Centennial Blvd.夏洛特港. Meetings start at 9 a.m., unless otherwise noted. All meetings are open to the public.
Roles and Responsibilities
The functions, powers and duties of the HAC are listed in Charlotte County Ordinance 2004-045, which established the HAC. The HAC’s functions, powers and duties include:
- Approving historical markers;
- Reviewing development and construction projects of historical significance;
- Providing input on potential historical districts, historical programs and outreach efforts;
- Making recommendations on establishing an archives/collection program;
- Raising funds for historic preservation
- To provide recommendations to the Board of 县委员会ers on issues related to those duties specified above or other duties assigned by the Board of Commissioners; and
- To review and provide input on the Capital Improvement 预算 for historical-related facilities
